Seasons Theatre Company, formerly Seasons Amateur Dramatics Society, was originally set up by Barbara Jones and former Business Director, Sue Baldwin from Rockspur House in February 2013. In it’s early days, Sue looked after the business side of the group and Barbara looked after the performance side. Both Sue and Barbara have a number of years experience working in the fields of learning disability, business management and musical theatre.

The intention of the group has always been to encourage members to take on some of the roles that Sue and Barbara initially undertook, once Seasons became fully established. We are pleased to announce that this happened in January 2016, when Seasons became a not for profit, community interest company. With Barbara now taking on both the roles of Business Director and Artistic Director, Seasons has developed into a popular weekly event on our members and volunteers calendars.

The hardest decision during the initial forming of Seasons was choosing a name that would echo the purpose of the group. The name was eventually chosen, as the fundamental goal of the group is for members to build and develop their performance skills, liking it to the changing of the “seasons”.

Alongside Barbara and a team of musical directors, technicians, choreographers and wardrobe assistants, members of Seasons will continue to develop their skills, self-esteem, confidence and independence, so they become the sole decision-makers for future events. With all this in mind, Seasons aims to become one of the top amateur dramatics groups within the Cannock Chase district.

Seasons also provides opportunities to socialise with each other outside of performances, developing friendships and reducing social isolation using performance as the key denominator.

On joining the Seasons family, our newest members can expect a warm and friendly greeting with an introductory pack provided with all the information you will need on Seasons Theatre Company.

We understand that trying something new can take time, so we encourage new members to try us out for six weeks. After this we will sit down and have an informal chat on how things are going for you.

If you have enjoyed the taster, we will help you progress through auditions, rehearsals and performances.

Seasons is a fantastic opportunity for people with learning disabilities to work alongside community-based actors, to be part of an amateur dramatic society.

As Support Staffordshire development officers, we supported Seasons to apply and secure funding to kickstart and build up financial reserves, to enable Seasons to keep going for future years.

We attended Seasons launch night on the 20th February 2014 and it was great to see group members, volunteers and staff take pride in what they do. The launch night and everything to do with Seasons is very professional and inspiring. It was great to see the enthusiasm, commitment and dedication of the cast and to see an array of talents on display.

We look forward to seeing how Seasons develop and make a difference to peoples lives.
